Sorting the wheat from the chaff . . .

1/22/2014

I am currently doing work with one of my clients on their supplier base.  We've identified that 60% of the suppliers on their database havn't been used for over 12 months so are about to do a culling exercise (only on the system!), and also that they have a huge number of suppliers with whom they spend very little so today the Procurement Manager has been tasked with 'sorting out' this aspect of the system to identify what savings, in terms of numbers and potentially cost, could be had through some rationalisation.  The next task is to identify those suppliers who present the greatest risk to the business and to look at what we know about their supplier performance.  It's great work to be involved in and the management team are excited by the possibilities which they can see.
