Recently went in to a company to do a certification audit for them, and was horrified to find that they'd been hoodwinked/robbed blind by the consultant who'd been 'helping them out'. A huge fee charged and a system produced which had had no input from the business 'he just sat in an office writing things' and which bore no resemblance to their operation as a result. Procedures written for all manner of 'departments' when in truth there's an MD and an Office Manager and a team in the factory. Three different procedures for control of nonconforming product, none of which tally up with each other. I could have cried. So why didn't they challenge him? They didn't know what they didn't know and were taken in by his 'standard speak' and 'superior knowledge'. Very sad to see. Not the way we work here - we write systems with you, which reflect what you do and work for you not against you. Get in touch if you need help!
