1. Not to work in August
2. Not to have to be responsible for staff, their welfare, their training etc
3. Not to have to report to a Line Manager again
And to be fair I've managed all 3 pretty well! So why not have staff? Having managed teams of staff for many years I'd come to the conclusion that I didn't want to get sucked into the management issues which so cloud effective relationships at times and wanted to be able to work with valued colleagues because of who they are and what they do not because they sit within my organisation. I wanted there to be choice - for me and for them about how and when we engage in business. It's working well!
