Thank you to the staff at the Crewe Arms Hotel today for reminding me what good customer service is all about. A welcome smile, helpful staff and attentive service which just hig
It's been a strange old week here, with visits to 2 former 'railway' haunts. Very strange to be going back to places which have such strong memories from the past and finding that one (Rugby) had changed beyond recognition and the other (Crewe) had hardly changed at all - well not in the areas I was visiting. Very powerful memories of meetings with colleagues at the Crewe Arms Hotel, which didn't seem to have changed a bit since I was last there in the early 1990's.
Today's meeting at Crewe was lovely. A new client, and a chance to talk and learn and share. All helped by some exceptional customer service from the hotel's 'man in charge' who made our meeting so very much more productive with his attentive service, delicious coffee and absolutely GORGEOUS salmon and cucumber sandwiches at lunchtime. Must go on Trip Advisor!
Huge thanks today to the wonderful reception team at #Dalton Terrace Surgery for getting my husband an urgent appointment with our GP. Incredibly helpful and pleasant to deal with. Thank you!
On the other side of the coin a close friend has been waiting to get an appointment to see her GP, in South Yorkshire, for nearly 10 days now. She finally got an appointment made today, but it's not till the end of the week and she only got the appointment after 'being given the 3rd degree'.
The NHS creaks and groans it's way along but the varying practices between different s
I've been down to Rugby today to present some thoughts to an interview panel. An interesting experience not least because it's a long time since I've been in that sort of environment! I think I did ok, but one question in particular took the wind out of my sails, and this was 'tell me 3 things about yourself that will excite me so much I just have to give you the job'. WOW, what a killer question that was. Not one to usually be lost for words it had me stumped but I did come up with some ok responses and then threw in, for good measure, 'and I have sung in front of the Queen in Westminster Abbey'. Now why on earth that popped into my mind is beyond me but it did and hey ho I shared it! I shall remember that que
Volvo has been a long-term backer of sailing in the UK, having supported youth sailing since 1999 and having been the vehicle partner of the British Sailing Team since 2009. They've just signed a fantastic new 4 year deal which will see Volvo retain its role as Official Car Partner to the British Sailing Team, providing investment and support across the RYA’s Junior, Youth, Olympic and Paralympic Racing Programmes, which underpins the company’s ‘grassroots to glory’ sponsorship philosophy.
Volvo will supply the RYA with some 30 cars and will also increase its support for all Olympic and Paralympic Classes sailing in Great Britain by providing an additional fleet of 30 cars directly to sailors on the RYA’s World Class Performance Programme.
This support will assist with the logistical challenges of transporting personnel, boats and equipment in comfort and safety to numerous training and event commitments, both in the UK and overseas.
It's just fantastic to see this support for our wonderful sailors - thank you Volvo!
Just had a pre-birthday lunch with my Mum at Luigi's Italian Restaurant in York. Lovely food, wonderful service and a real treat. Thank you Mum! Sometimes it is SO nice to be spoilt!
Yesterday I was privileged to spend the morning in the company of a fantastic group of ladies. We have built up such solid networking links over the last 18 months to 2 years and the synergy and energy which we generated yesterday was incredible. We were discussing some major developments for our group and the way in which everyone pitched in with ideas, offers of help etc made me realise just how powerful groups are when they are all working to a common goal and without anyone 'trying to pull a fast one'. I came away feeling that what could have been hard work ahead was actually going to be great fun and thoroughly enjoyable. Lots more to come on this one, but in the meantime we were truly
Has anyone seen summer? Warm weather, blue skies etc? Getting fed up of being cold!
Wow my head aches after this morning! I've just spent the last 6 hours putting together some training materials on ISO27001, the international standard for information security management. I've had some stuff in the kitbag for a while but wanted to really 'freshen it up' as I felt I could put a lot more into it and make it much more vibrant and interesting.
It's been a very productive morning and as I look at what I have produced I've got a sense of pride about it. A set of really good slides to accompany some focussed input. Handouts and examples all nicely linked in. Links established to ISO9001 (always useful) and a good table produced. Sometimes the 'words are with you' and it's been one of those days for me today. Time now for a coffee and then back to work.
Had some amazing Focaccia from the new baker at Ainsty Farm Shop last weekend. Topped with gorgeous sun-dried tomatoes and incredibly tasty - we ate it in chunks with a BBQ including some of Stewart's gorgeous Pork and Leek sausages, knocked up a simple salad and felt like we were dining like kings! Definitely worth a try!
